Each April during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center coordinates a community-wide Blue Ribbon Campaign. The blue ribbon is a national symbol of the need to protect our children. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness about child abuse and to generate support for programs and services to help victims. This year marks our 25th annual campaign, and we are so thankful for the continued support that our community gives to the children served through the CAC.
Bonnie Finley, a grandmother, made a personal commitment to stop child abuse when she tied a royal blue ribbon on the antenna of her car after her own 4-year-old grandson was killed at the hands of his mother’s abusive boyfriend. Little did she know the impact that this simple gesture would have on people and communities across the United States. Out of her tragedy and heartache emerged an outcry and thus began a National Blue Ribbon Campaign.
Last year, your Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center provided interviews to 526 children with new allegations of abuse. More than 1,700 victims of abuse received therapy, crisis counseling, and criminal justice support services. Child abuse is a problem that is too big for one person or one agency to solve. It takes an entire community working together to take a stand and speak out on behalf of our children. This is an opportunity for you to make a difference by partnering with the CAC and support the "25 Years of Hope" Blue Ribbon Campaign.
We invite you to join us by participating in the CAC’s “Blue Ribbon Friday for Kids” t-shirt event. To ensure your business is included as a sponsor and to pre-order your t-shirts, please complete and return the forms to the CAC by Friday, February 22nd!
Our vision is to have a community where children are safe, families are strong and child victims become children again. Help us cover the Wiregrass in blue ribbons during April as we bring awareness to the problems children endure when they are victims of abuse. All donations will be used to help abused children in our local area. Remember when you make an investment in the CAC, you are helping a child move from victim to survivor!Register Now
